Rev. Carole I am so happy to be in the New Year; not that 2009 wasn't a good one, but knowing the milestone of changing the year has been accomplished and I survived does bring me joy. Call me crazy, but that's the way I feel every year about this time.
It is our nature to spread our wings and fly, so why don't we? It is our nature to experience good, peace, joy and love, so why don't we? It is our nature to be healthy, wealthy and wise, so why aren't we? Don't get me wrong, I know there are many who are reading this who are soaring in all the good ways we are intended, however, can we truly be satisfied no matter what heights we have reached? Remember, our nature is to grow, so no matter how good it is in this moment there is a greater gift just awaiting our acceptance.
What have you chosen for yourself for 2010? Do you have goals for achievement? How do you want to expand spiritually this year? What is left over from 2009 that still needs to be healed, and are you really ready to have the healing take place in 2010? Is there a lingering health issue, or a relationship in jeopardy, or are you still looking for a new career? One of my teachers has said a powerful mind is a made up mind. Is your mind made up or are you just toying with a new idea? Nothing of any substance will be achieved until there is a decision and an embodiment of the conviction which will set the law of mind in motion to produce the results.
What's stopping you from making up your mind? Some would say fear of failure; others would say fear of success. No matter what the fear, it can't be bigger than your decision to move, since, after all, it is your nature to grow. There is only One Power in this Universe and nothing can stop it from moving you along the path you have decided upon, once you let go of the fear. We set our own limitations, you know - no one else can do that. Any place we feel limited is simply a place where we have agreed on some inner level to be limited
I had a conversation with a young man who attended CSLC once (not surprised he never returned). He related to me his disenchantment with ministers because he had attended a church where the minister went on and on about her new boat during the talk. His upset was, here this minister had a new boat but he had an $8/hour job. My question to him was: Did you know what the pay was when you accepted the job? We can't go through life accepting less and then expect to achieve that which requires more! If an $8/hour job doesn't feel good for you, then do what is necessary to achieve something greater. Prayer and meditation will guide you in the actual doing, such as getting more education. Our first mandate is to take responsibility for our lives, because whatever the experience may be, it is unfolding in accordance with our beliefs about what is possible for ourselves. This, I think, is why the young man never returned to our Center. . . a place where we teach principles which empower the individual, not a place of blame, guilt or fear. FIRST, you must establish the consciousness to support more income or the 'doing' will be futile. Remember the scripture (my favorite): First, come into the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all else will be added unto you.
This scripture means first of all we must recognize God as our source, not our jobs, our inheritance, pension, retirement, investments, government, etc. These are the avenues through which our income travels. Second, 'his righteousness' means acting and living in accordance with the two commandments given in the New Testament. Those are, love your neighbor as you love yourself, and love God with all your heart, your soul and your mind. In establishing this consciousness, everything tangible and intangible which could fulfill you is yours and comes without asking. . . it just shows up.
What is showing up for you in 2010?
Namaste.

Rev. Sandy, recipient of the “Youth Champion 2008” award from International Centers for Spiritual Living, will be primarily responsible for establishing and leading our Teen and Youth Groups. Rev. Sandy has established a young adult group for ages 19 to 30., meeting every other Sunday afternoon from 1 to 3 pm at the Center.
Rev. Sandy Freeman-Loomis was a professional actress for 30-some years in New York City and Los Angeles, appearing in primetime and daytime series. She knew she'd found home when she went to her first Religious Science church and felt she was remembering something she'd always known, but didn't know she knew it. When her daughter, Alexandra Vincent, made her transition at the age of 17, Rev. Sandy was led into the ministry. Her Religious Science training was in Glendale, CA with Dr. Leo Fishbeck, Rev. Elizabeth Claire, Dr. Yvonne Smith, Rev. Helen Street and Dr. Arleen Bump. She has always been active in the Youth movement within ICSL. Rev. Sandy has pastored the North Tahoe Church of Religious Science in Tahoe City, CA, and the Science of Mind® New Thought Center in Sacramento, CA . She is here for God!
